My Thanksgiving Table Inspiration

Here we are fast approaching the holiday season! As I began my search for the perfect Thanksgiving table inspo this year I thought back to last years setup (one of my favs!). This year I’ve been having a hard time finding the perfect inspiration for my table but wanted to share the best that I came across. Send any ideas my way if you have some you like!

You might remember this post from last year! Copper is still ‘in’ so you might see that again.

This was a nice rustic look, but a bit too busy for me, with all the food I like to keep it simple. I do love these brass candle holders though! Check out HonestlyYumm’s post for some great inspo!

This look is from Becky Owens. Who does a fabulous job mixing the gold flatware and contrasting plates!

Another great rustic look I found on pinterest. This is about the size table we’d need if all the family came! 😀

See the full look by Lindsey Brunk.

Another one with the mix of contrast this is by Sarah Sherman! This seems to be a look I am gravitating towards as I search around for inspo.

This is from one of my favorite blogs – Local Milk. The way she presents everything is so perfectly done. A true creative.

I love a nice outdoor setup with twinkly lights (If only we lived in California!).

I hope you guys have a great long Thanksgiving weekend!

Don’t forget to get your sleep and get ready for the sales over the weekend! I certainly can’t wait to sit around in front of the fire on my laptop and get all my christmas shopping done and out of the way!

Please send any ideas my way on the table settings or share what you do on your holiday weekends!

Happy Halloween!

Here we are in downtown flemington, new jersey! They have the best halloween parade and trick or treating every year! So many kids go, the streets are blocked off so you don’t have to worry about cars!

Best costume of the year goes to…

cropped-img-maddox-mom.pngIt’s that time of year! I searched high and low for the perfect halloween costume to top last years outfit, I think it turned out cute but I wouldn’t say it ‘topped’ last years. If you remember I was Cruella De Vil and Maddox was a little Dalmation (see here) puppy. This year we were a scary skeleton family! We stayed out a bit and did some trick or treating with my brother and his family, (Maddox’s cousins). I couldn’t believe how brave Maddox was, he didn’t get scared once!

CARSEAT BACK PACK (fits most): HERE // STROLLER: HERE
SUITCASE: SIMILAR HERE or HERE

cropped-img-maddox-mom.pngIt’s been over 6 months so another California trip was needed! Troy was busy with a work trip already out there, so Maddox and me came out later. It’s been awhile since I’ve flown by myself with Maddox, and it was the first time since having the next size up car seat. Which means I had to bring Maddox’s stroller, the car seat, suitcase, diaper bag, purse – all by myself. After over 20 trips with him I think it’s safe to say we’ve got it down, but it was still a lot. I did purchase this carseat case that doubles as a ‘back pack’ (straps on the back) which was a lifesaver. I brought our larger stroller so I could put my purse below and Maddox’s diaper bag up top and I managed to pack both Maddox clothes & mine in one large suitcase. It was a sight to see us walking through the airport till we checked the suitcase & carseat.

As for the flight, I brought some things to keep him busy as best I could, he’s into anything lately like sticky notes, stickers, and some erasable crayons.

We stayed at the Avalon, Beverly Hills which is a small boutique hotel a few blocks away from Rodeo Drive. The location was great since most things we wanted to do this time were over that way. We were only there from Thursday – Tuesday so it was a quick trip, we met up with a few friends with their kids & had the best time! Always hard coming home from there.

Your Guide to the Grand Cayman

Day one: We landed! It was sunny and 86°

Maddox wearing Zara Kids.

We decided to go out of the resorts zone and try a spot on the island. It was absolutely beautiful to watch the sunset!

‘Look a stingray!!’

This jump was higher than it looked! Nearly 8ft to the water!

Before I jumped in – I was sure to ask how many sharks they had seen around this area, thankfully none around here. Not sure I would have jumped if they had!

Just a few underwater shots with the GoPro HERO5! Highly recommend getting one of these! So cool and they can go underwater!

He wasn’t quite sure what it was, but it was slippery!!

Maddox loves chicken, it’s one of his favorite meals. I think he was a little confused when we pointed to these chickens and said ‘chicken’!

This place was called ‘Chicken, chicken’! Not a bad spot!

Day four: Family vacay 2017 portrait!

This little lounge chair was soo cute!! Perfect for this little guy!

‘Stay out of the garbage!!’ 😀

While Troy watches Maddox – I catch up on what’s going on in the world.. aka Insta, fb…

We could not get enough of this water!

Just splashing around in a puddle that some other little boy made – think Maddox scared him off!

Not the easiest surface to walk on, but it sure helped his walking ability back home!

Happy to be getting some sun!

Our first time to the Cayman Islands! We went to Seven Mile Beach in the Grand Cayman and it was stunning! It was a quick flight down from the NY area only 3.5 hours away so you can’t beat that for how tropical it is! I would definitely recommend and would go back.

The top 3 must do while you’re there:

  1. Be sure to catch some rays
  2. Go to Stingray City and swim with the stingrays! Highly recommend redsailcayman.com they took us out on an awesome sailboat with breakfast on the way out. We took the early (7:30 am-ish) spot which gets you there before the rest of the boats get in so it wasn’t as choppy or busy in the water.
  3. Dine at the Ritz. All of their restaurants were terrific and had superb service.

There weren’t a lot of excursions or trips outside the resorts to do, but if you were going to venture out the bus system was great there. $2.50 US will get you anywhere along the 7 mi beach. Quite convenient and we didn’t have any trouble on the weekends or nights when we went out getting a bus back. We were back by 7 every night though. 🙂 Do remember they drive on the opposite side of the road there!

5 minute makeup routine

I can barely remember the days pre-baby. What did I do with all my free time before Maddox I often ask myself. How nice it must have been to get ready in my own quiet time without rushing to get done before Maddox wakes up or trying to multitask while he’s on the floor in a hurry to pull everything out of the closet, or tear all the toilet paper down (yes he’s done that). Today I’m sharing my 5 minute makeup routine for the busy moms who have barely any time to get ready! Hope you Enjoy!

After moisturizer I apply a primer before applying foundation (also love this one) . I prefer to use a sponge to apply for evenness. After I use a liquid foundation I brush on a bit of a powder to keep it set and apply some quick blush.

After all that I use a pencil to fill in my brows.

I’ve tried so many different kinds of Mascara, from various price points but always come back to this one by Maybelline.

This is my favorite lip primer! I have a lot of pigment in my lips, so it really helps me be able to get the exact lipstick color I use.

If i’m really feeling like doing up my look I’ll add a eye liner. I use a liquid and lately have been just doing the top.

JORD Giveaway

Since becoming a new mom I’ve begun to fully appreciate all that my own Mom has done for me a whole lot more! It’s amazing how you seem to take for granted all that they’ve done for you! Just thinking about the late nights I’ve enforced, all the early morning rises, the constant care a mother has to provide for their child who’s still so helpless to do anything themselves (I’m not even going to get into the later years of carpooling around, hobbies, taking them to sports, etc.). You really never start to realize all the time your Mother gives to you until you become a Mother yourself.

With Mothers Day around the corner I started to search for the perfect gift to get my mom, what better gift to give someone who’s given so much of their time than to give a gift that will help track their time! 🙂

I really love these wood watches – I’ve got one for myself and get so many compliments on it! The color goes great with anything and it comes in such fancy packaging – a wooden box!

Here’s a special gift for you: A chance to win $100.00 E Gift code to JORD watches! All you have to do is enter on https://www.jordwatches.com/g/maddoxandloren. Dream theme first birthday party

If you’re looking for easy prints Chatbooks is one to check out! Pulls images down right from your social account in a snap!

Party favors: Little 1 shaped sugar cookies! Recipe found here. Had lots of compliments on this recipe!

This was a fun little game – guests took a guess at what Maddox might be when he grows up (from the top 7 career options we approved) Later Maddox played a little game, which you may have seen on my Insta stories!

You may have guessed – Maddox might just be following in Daddy’s footsteps!

If you’re in the central NJ area – you need to try Blue Sheep Bake shop! Really – right now- GO! I got my cake, cupcakes and macaroons from there and they were all the best!

One last minute addition to the party – Troy’s idea (sorry to the parents of the children at this party: I did not think of all the sweets I was planning to have at the time) Cotten Candy machine (thank you for amazon prime!)

For those of you who didn’t catch my insta – he choose the ‘Tylonol’ – representing ‘Pharma industry’.

Oh that face – I could eat you up! Ironically – he had no interest in eating his cupcake.

cropped-img-maddox-mom.pngWeighing in at 22lbs, 33inches and 8 teeth later, Maddox is ONE years old! When they tell you ‘Don’t blink – Before you know it they’ll be turning 1..15..off to college..’ they weren’t kidding! We have done so much with him in just one short year. From traveling local to nearly a dozen flights later, it’s amazing how much they develop and grow in so little time! I’m excited for what the new year brings, what new friends he’ll meet, the next tricks he’ll learn and all the trouble he’ll get into!

Part of me was sad after his party – it was perfect, I couldn’t ask for better weather, the only slight hicup was the star of the show – wasn’t preforrming at his peak level! 😀 He ended up crashing about halfway through. All partied out. Maybe next year he’ll actually eat his cake!!
